Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera (CILS) is a certificate of Italian language proficiency sanctioned by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. CILS is administered by the Università per Stranieri di Siena and is recognized internationally.

The Language Institute is the only authorized testing site in the state of New Jersey.

CILS For Business
Many companies and government agencies operating in Italy and abroad require an Italian language proficiency exam to apply for employment.

CILS For Study
With this certification, students applying for admission into Italian schools will not be required to take an entrance exam.

CILS B1 for Citizenship
Italian law now requires a B1 level of proficiency in Italian to apply for Italian citizenship through marriage. Practice Exam.
